European Association of Archaeologists (EAA) Congress

European Association of Archaeologists (EAA) Congress 2014, science conference that took place on September 10–14, 2014, at Istanbul Technical University. The Vehbi Koç Foundation was one of the sponsors for the congress, which attracted 2,065 scholars from 76 countries. There were 47 parallel sessions and 2,253 paper and poster presentations. The conference’s main theme was “Connecting Seas – Across the Borders” and subthemes were: Managing Archaeological Heritage, Ancient Technologies in Social Context, Environment and Subsistence, Times of Change: Collapse and Transformative Impulses, and Retrieving and Interpreting the Archaeological Record. The congress was dedicated to the memory of Sevgi Gönül, in recognition for her interest and understanding of Byzantine archaeology.
