Chandler, John R(ussell)

Chandler, John R(ussell) (b. July 6, 1946, Massachusetts, USA), educator and director. He served as the third director of Koç High School (see Koç School) between 1996 and 1998. When the elementary school was added in 1998, he became the first general director of the new Koç Primary and High School, remaining in the post until 2005.

After studying Language and Literature at Yale College, affiliated with Yale University, he continued with a master’s degree at the university’s School of Theology in 1973-75. From 1968 to 1996, he worked as an English teacher at various middle schools in the USA, also serving as principal and vice principal. In 1996, he was appointed director of the Koç High School. During his tenure, along with the start of the application of nationwide eight-year compulsory elementary education, the Koç Primary School opened in 1998. In the same year, with a change in title, Chandler became the school’s first general director and remained in post until 2005. He later served as headmaster of Robert College from 2005 to 2012.
