Erkut, (Fehmi) Celal

Erkut, (Fehmi) Celal (b. December 1, 1958, Izmir), lawyer and academician. He has served on the board of directors of the Vehbi Koç Foundation since 2014.
 
He graduated from Galatasaray High School in 1978 and Istanbul University (IU) Faculty of Law in 1982. From 1982 to 1984, he worked as a researcher in the Department of Administrative Law in the same faculty, while also studying for a master’s degree. He began working on his doctorate at the IU Institute of Social Sciences, completing it in 1989. In 1993, he became an associate professor, joining the staff in the Department of Administrative Law at IU Faculty of Law. 
 
In addition to being a faculty member, from 1994 onwards Erkut worked as a lawyer, co-founding the Soybay & Erkut Law Office, the country’s first office of administrative law. In 1998, he took up a part-time post in the Department of Administrative Law at Galatasaray University Faculty of Law and was made head of department in the following year. Erkut became a professor in 2004 and retired in 2011. He has produced a large body of academic works in administrative law and administrative judicial legislation.
