Onur, Jale

Onur, Jale (b. February 10, 1952, Ankara), educator and director. She served as deputy general director of Koç School from 1998 to 2012.

She completed her secondary education at the Üsküdar American Academy for Girls in 1970, graduating from the English Language Teaching Department at Marmara University in 1974 and the German Philology Department at Istanbul University in 1979. In 1993, she received a master’s degree in teaching a second language from the School for International Training in Vermont, USA. She began her doctorate in international education at Bath University in England in 2000, completing it in 2008.

From 1974 to 1978, Onur taught English at private schools in Istanbul and then worked as a translator and director of her own translation agency from 1979 to 1989. In 1989, she began teaching at Koç High School in the English preparatory department. After serving as deputy director of the middle school for two years (1996-98), she was appointed as deputy general director, a position she held until 2012. In 2013, she founded her own educational consulting company. She has been an associate professor in the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Education at Maltepe University since 2015 and published the book Teaching in the Knowledge Age and International Baccalaureate in 2016.
