Anatolia is Reading Book Project

“Anatolia is Reading” Book Project, a book donation project developed by the Vehbi Koç Foundation in response to high demand for books. The project, which has been running since 2011, aims to send library packs—composed from among 100 fundamental works appropriate for school-age readers—to school libraries in elementary and middle schools based in the city which scores the lowest in the National Competitiveness Report. In 2011, books were sent to 200 elementary schools and 29 high schools in Hakkâri; in 2012, to help overcome educational problems arising in the aftermath of the earthquake in Van, books were sent to 83 high schools and 200 elementary schools; in 2013, books were sent to 42 high schools and 200 middle schools in Şırnak; in 2014, books were sent to 261 schools in Ağrı; in 2015, books were sent to 44 high schools and 197 middle schools in Muş; in 2016, books were sent to 218 schools in Bitlis; in 2017, books were sent to 49 high schools and 136 middle schools in Siirt and in 2018, books were sent to 177 secondary schools and to 68 high schools in Batman. The number of schools receiving books within the eight-year period amounted to 1,920.
