TUYGAR BOUN Cultural Heritage Project

ATARC BOUN Cultural Heritage Project, full name I KNOW THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF MY DISTRICT AND MY CITY ISTANBUL AND SHARE MY KNOWLEDGE WITH MY FRIENDS, project conducted by the Boğaziçi University’s Applied Tourism Administration and Research Center (ATARC) to encourage appreciation of cultural heritage at a young age. It was launched with support from several institutions at the start, including the Vehbi Koç Foundation.

The project, conducted between October 2012 and December 2014, studied the effects of a multi-dimensional education program created to develop and measure cultural heritage awareness in elementary school pupils of 2nd through to 4th grades. A total of 286 pupils from three state elementary schools in the Fatih district of Istanbul took part in the project. As part of the project, story books with visual and audio appeal were developed, workshops organized, and field trips arranged. The six story books produced as a result were distributed in partnership with municipalities; this was further supported by practical activities.
