Kocaeli University Vehbi Koç Foundation Ford Otosan İhsaniye Vocational College for Automotive Technologies

Kocaeli University Vehbi Koç Foundation Ford Otosan İhsaniye Vocational College for Automotive Technologies, an educational institution which aims to train a qualified work force for the automotive sector. It applies a practical educational concept implemented in Turkish higher education for the first time. It was opened by the Vehbi Koç Foundation (VKV) and Ford Otosan, a Koç Holding company, as part of Kocaeli University (KOU).

The foundations of the school were laid in 2011 with a workshop attended by representatives of a wide range of sectors and arranged in partnership with KOU, Ford Otosan, VKV and Gölcük Municipality. Construction work was completed in August 2013 and teaching commenced in the 2013-14 academic year.

The school, which covers an area of 6,000 square meters, has 13 classrooms with a capacity for 400 students, a Ford Otosan studio with prototype vehicle production equipment and several laboratories. The school has departments for Motor Vehicle and Transportation Technologies, Machine Metal Technologies, and Business and Foreign Trade. Students spend the first two terms of their studies at the school and carry out an internship for most of their third term.
