Suna-İnan Kıraç Education Park

Suna-İnan Kıraç Education Park, a TEGV education park in the Kepez area of Antalya established with funds from the Vehbi Koç Foundation (VKV). The park’s running costs are also met by VKV.

The park is in the Yeşilyurt district on a plot of 14,700 square meters, which was allocated to TEGV by Kepez Municipality. It began operating in February 2001, but the official opening took place in October of the same year. The park, which since its opening has been visited by 60,000 children, also includes a 1,400 square meter undercover area containing drama, creative and “dream” workshops, together with a library, laboratory, multi-purpose hall, offices and activity, reading and IT rooms. The outdoor area includes basketball, volleyball and football fields, an outdoor chess facility and traffic education space. Education programs related to science, reading, art and technology are held in the park, along with club and school support activities and short term initiatives addressing hygiene, mouth and dental health.

The message from Suna Kıraç read at the park’s official opening ceremony

I’m sad that I can’t be with you due to ill health. On the other hand, I’m overjoyed. My struggles are taking place inside a boundless ring of affection. I have ideals that are longer than my lifetime: resolving the educational inadequacies that lay behind all of our country’s problems, the corporatization of the foundation and the Koç Group, and striving to achieve both. Enduring the worst economic crisis of the Republican Era has been exacerbated by the threats of terror and war that have become part of our world. In the midst of such a chaotic environment, my aims might seem utopian. However, economic crises can be overcome, political issues can be solved, but it’s impossible to fix a society that has wasted its young people. I’m a lucky person. God showed me many beautiful things during my life. This education park gave me and İnan great happiness. I entrust this park to future generations and our daughter İpek Kıraç.
