Akın, İlhan (b. 1927, Izmir), lawyer and academician. He was a member of the
Vehbi Koç Foundation Board of Directors between 1978 and 1996.
He graduated from Istanbul University (IU) Faculty of Law in 1950. After completing a PhD at Paris Faculty of Law, he began working at Istanbul University Faculty of Law, in the departments of Public International Law and Public Law. He became professor in 1966. He was elected dean of IU Faculty of Law in 1972. After being elected for three consecutive terms, he held the post until 1980, while at the time lecturing at the IU Faculty of Political Sciences. He was elected dean of the Faculty of Law again in 1986 and stayed in post until 1994. Prof. Akın served as a member in the presidential contingent of The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) General Board and Supervisory Board (1993-95). He also sat on the Press Advertising Council and the board of directors of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT).
He published several books, including, Türk Devrimi Tarihi (History of the Turkish Revolution; 1966), Kamu Hukuku (Public Law; 1979), Siyasi Tarih 1870-1914 (Political History 1870-1914; 1983) and Devlet Doktrinleri (State Doctrines; 2013).
