Atay, Temel K(amil)

Atay, Temel K(amil) (b. September 17, 1940, Istanbul), engineer, director. He has represented Koç Holding on the Vehbi Koç Foundation (VKV) Board of Directors since 1998 and as Koç Holding CEO from 2000 to 2001.
After graduating with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Atay completed an MBA at Wayne State University in Detroit, USA. He was product development engineer at Chrysler Istanbul (1965–66), product development manager at Otosan (1966–69), and product development engineer at Ford Motor Co. in the USA (1969–72). After working as Koç Holding assistant coordinator in the automotive department (1972–74), he served as general manager at Otoyol Sanayi AŞ in 1974 and at Tofaş in 1981. From 1992 to 1994, he was Koç Holding vice president of technical projects and from 1994 to 1996 he served as Tofaş Group president.

In 1996, he joined the Koç Holding Board of Directors and also served as vice chair of the Group Executive Committee and president of Other Automotive Companies. He became a member of the Koç Holding Management Committee in 1998 and served as vice chair of the Board of Directors until 2016. He was CEO in 2000 and 2001 and took over responsibility for the Family Office in 2003. He is still on the Koç Holding Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of VKV, as well as serving on the Tüpraş Board of Directors.
